As a FM, I can create a business unit
Functional Managers * (FM) and Project Management Office (PMO) can create a new Business Unit by clicking the ‘Add Business Unit’ button. A BU can be deleted by clicking the “Settings” button. Deleting a BU is serious because all projects inside are also deleted*. The user will get a validation message : ‘You cannot delete a Business Unit if it contains any projects.’ if the business unit contains any project.


After creating a new BU, the project list is empty. Functional Managers (FM) and Sponsors (SP) can create new projects.

Functional Managers * (FM) and also PMO, can set enterprise environmental factors for all projects belonging to the business unit at *BU DATA:

- Notifications Scheme: When some events happen, for instance, on project creation, some roles are notified by email. Notifications scheme will be explained below.
- Calendars for this BU: Functional Managers (FM) can reuse or create project calendars specifying working days, working hours, etc. Project Managers (PM) can set calendars for each work package at PLAN > Plan Schedule > Schedule Work Packages > Calendar.
- Clients for this BU: Functional Managers (FM) can reuse or create clients for this BU. Projects in this BU can be associated to clients at INITIATION > Project Data > Define. Each client has a client file to register contact data, billing data, etc.
- Project Phases for this BU: Functional Managers (FM) can reuse or create project life cycle phases for this BU. Projects in this BU can be set the project phase at CONTROL > PROJECT PHASE.
- Project Tags for this BU: Functional Managers (FM) can reuse or create project tags for this BU. Projects in this BU can be set the project one or more tags at INITIATION > Project Data > Include.
- Project Cost Categories for this BU: Functional Managers (FM) can reuse or create types of expenses for projects in this BU. Some examples of cost categories are per diem, employee meal, customer meal, taxi, parking, lodging, mileage, flight, train, toll, etc. Team Members (TM) have to select a cost category when reporting an expense.
- Project Payment Methods for this BU: Functional Managers (FM) can reuse or create types payment methods for projects in this BU Some examples of payment methods are employee (cash), employee (card), company card, agency, restaurant checks, etc. Team Members (TM) can select a payment method when reporting an expense.
Functional Managers * (FM) and Project Management Office (PMO) can set email notifications at BU SETTINGS > Notifications Scheme for this Business Unit* :

If the corresponding box is marked, some people, according to their role in the project inside the Business Unit, will receive an email if some event happens:
- Project creation: FM will be notified if a project is created inside the BU.
- Project deletion: FM and PMOs will be notified if a project is deleted.
- Project inclusion: FM, PgM and PfM will be notified if the project changes Business Unit, Program or Portfolio, respectively.
- Change of project state: Roles SH, RQ, SP, FM, PgM and PfM will be notified if project change state—initiating, planning, execution, closing, archived.
- Change of project phase: Roles SH, RQ, SP, FM, PgM and PfM will be notified if changes project phase.
- Change of project status date: Roles SH, RQ and SP will be notified if change published status date:
- Main milestone met: Roles SH, RQ and SP will be notified if project meet some main milestone—associated to work package#0— that is, milestone actual date is updated.
- Status report publication: Roles SH, RQ and SP will be notified when project status report is created.
- Status report blockchain publication: Roles SH, RQ, SP, FM, PMO, PMA, PfM, PgM and PM will be notified when project status report is published in Blockchain.
- Time sheet approval: Team Members will be notified if their submitted timesheets are approved for a day or for a week.
- Expenses approval: Team Members will be notified if their submitted expenses are approved for a day or for a week.
- Time sheet rejection: Team Members will be notified if their submitted timesheets are rejected for a day or for a week.
- Expenses rejection: Team Members will be notified if their submitted expenses are rejected for a day or for a week.
- Task assignment: Team Members will be notified if they are assigned to tasks.
- Task completion: Roles PMA and PM will be notified when a project task is completed.
- TM assignment: When assigning a TM to a work package, he will be notified, along with his RM.
- TM removal: When removing a TM from a task, he will be notified, along with his RM.
- SH assignment: When assigning a SH to a project, he or she will be notified, along with roles PMA and PM.
- SH removal: When removing a SH from a project, he or she will be notified, along with roles PMA and PM.
- PM assignment: When assigning a PM to a project, he or she will be notified, along with roles RQ, SP, PMA, PfM and PgM.
- PM removal: When removing a PM from a project, he or she will be notified.
- PMA assignment: When assigning a PMA to a project, he or she will be notified, along with the other roles PMA and PM.
- PMA removal: When removing a PMA from a project, he or she will be notified, along with the other roles PMA and PM.
- SP assignment: When assigning an SP to a project, he or she will be notified.
- SP removal: When removing an SP from a project, he or she will be notified.
- RQ assignment: When assigning a RQ to a project, he or she will be notified.
- RQ removal: When removing a RQ from a project, he or she will be notified.
